Volkswagen recently announced it will unveil its new 2013 fuel-efficient Beetle TDI at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show.
The new Beetle will have the same turbocharged 2.0-liter diesel engine that can be found in the Volkswagen Jetta TDI and Passat TDI and will achieve 39 miles per gallon on the highway and 29 miles per gallon in the city.
The Beetle TDI will be the third model in the brand's lineup and will go on sale this summer. The vehicle is promised to be more dramatic with a stronger and masculine design than the New Beetle that was sold between 1998 and 2010.
While the exterior of the car deviates from previous designs of the vehicle, the interior features designs and colors that were seen in the original models. The trunk is also much larger compared with previous designs, with 15.4 cubic feet of space compared with the New Beetle's 12.0 cubic feet of space.
Volkswagen recent reported a 40 percent increase in sales in the month of January when compared with the same time last year, showing more prospective car buyers are applying for an auto loan or car financing to purchase vehicles from the German automaker.
