Lucky for you we live in the day and age where buying a new car does not necessarily mean that you have to buy an outrageously expensive car. A lot of people fear that because they can not afford to make payments on a car worth 40, 30, or even $20,000 that they will not be able to purchase an automobile. This is not the case. There are options for those of us who are a bit strapped for cash or have to take out an
automobile loan with bad credit and there are quite a few of them as well.
1. Nissan Versa 1.6 S - $12,800
Why not start the list with America's cheapest new car. Now many will expect that being said that it is overly stripped down and not even worth a look, but it actually is a very capable vehicle. While being half the price of the base model Toyota Camry, it still offers as much space as any mid-size sedan out there. It is nothing flashy and don't expect to be doing any late night racing in it, but despite that it will get you from point A to point B while still offering everything you look for in a vehicle such as air conditioning and CD stereo along with reasonably priced extras.
2. Chevrolet Spark LS - $12,995
Don't expect little from this Korean mini-car. For this price not only do you get nice style, bold colors, a small but strong engine, you also get air conditioning, power windows, alloy wheels, and ten airbags. This price does come with manual transmission though. So if you want automatic because you don't enjoy or don't know how to drive stick then the price will go up to $13,920 for the base model of that. It is a very likeable vehicle though and for the price you can not go wrong.
3. Smart ForTwo Pure - $13,240
Now the fan club for the Smart Car is a very small one. A lot of people are very cautious and judgmental over the little guy, but it is a decent entry level car. It is very sparsely equipped though compared to some of the other cheap vehicles out there. This option has crank windows, no stereo, and no air conditioning ($740 option). It does have automatic transmission, roomy seating, and a spacious trunk which is quite the surprise. The small size though isn't as big of a deal as it is back in it's home of Europe and for the price it is probably not your best option, but it is one.
4. Mitsubishi Mirage - $13, 790
Mitsubishi really is doing the whole inexpensive car thing pretty good. It offers power windows, mirrors, and locks, pretty decent stereo, automatic climate control, and all while being really fuel efficient. The average fuel efficiency is 34 city and 42 highway which is pretty darn good. That being said though it is slow and noisy, so if you can look past that it is a good buy but if not then it is better to maybe look around some more.
5. Kia Rio LX - $14,400
What is one of the best things about this vehicle? Well it is the fact that it doesn't look like a cheap car. This is a great looking vehicle that doesn't have that small, cheap look that most inexpensive vehicles have. All will come with a fuel efficient engine, air conditioning, automatic transmission, and CD stereo with USB input jack. For the looks and what you get this is a pretty good priced vehicle.
